Getting started and everyday use

What is KYMS+, and what can I store in it?

KYMS+ is a digital vault for your personal photos, videos, documents and other files. You can organise your content into collections, protect access to it and, if you enable KYMS Cloud, sync it across your devices.

↗
How do I add photos, videos and documents to my vault?

Open a collection, or create a new one, and use the option to add content. You can import photos and videos from your photo library, select documents from Files, or capture new content using the camera and document scanner, granting the required permissions.

Wait until the import has finished before removing the originals.

↗
Do the originals stay in Photos after importing?

Importing creates a protected copy inside KYMS+. The originals stay in Photos unless you choose to delete them.

If “Ask to delete from Photos” is enabled, KYMS+ offers to remove them after importing. Deleted photos and videos can remain in “Recently Deleted” for 30 days. To remove them from there immediately, use the Photos app. If you use iCloud Photos, deleting the originals also affects other devices connected to the same library.

Apple’s guide to deleting photos and videos

↗
How do I organise and find my content?

You can create collections with recognisable names, rename content and move it between collections. Within a collection, you can browse photos, videos and documents in their respective sections.

↗
How do I export or share a file from my vault?

Open the content and use the available export or share option. If the file is only available in the Cloud, wait until it has downloaded to your device first.

An exported copy is outside the protection of your KYMS+ vault. How it is handled depends on the app or destination you choose.

↗
Can I use KYMS+ without an Internet connection?

Yes. You can unlock your vault and view content already stored on your device without a connection.

Internet access is needed for online operations, such as syncing the Cloud, downloading content that is not yet available on your device, browsing the web and managing purchases. Importing an original stored only in iCloud may also require a connection. Subscription features remain subject to valid access under your plan.

↗

Access and security

How does Face ID unlocking work?

On compatible devices, you can enable biometric unlocking (Face ID or Touch ID) in KYMS+ settings and configure how long it remains available in the app.

During the configured period, you can use biometric unlocking when available. Once it expires, you must use your password; the app may also ask for it before the period expires. Keep your password safe: biometric unlocking does not replace it.

↗
I forgot my password. How can I regain access?

Use the credential recovery flow with your Recovery Card. Scan its QR code or manually enter your Account ID and recovery code, then follow the instructions to set a new password.

Accounts with Cloud enabled require an Internet connection. Support cannot tell you your password or bypass your vault’s protection.

↗
What is the recovery code, and where should I keep it?

The recovery code is included in your Recovery Card and lets you regain access if you forget your password. The card also includes your Account ID and a QR code to make recovery easier.

Keep a copy somewhere secure that you can access without opening KYMS+, such as a carefully stored printed copy. Do not share it with anyone, including support. If you generate a new Recovery Card, replace your previous copies.

↗
What happens if I lose my phone or move to a new iPhone?

Install KYMS+ on your new iPhone and sign in to the same account. If you had enabled the Cloud, you can retrieve content that was successfully uploaded and synced.

Content stored only on your old iPhone cannot be retrieved from KYMS Cloud. Before erasing or giving away your old device, make sure important files have synced or export a copy. Keep your Account ID, password and Recovery Card safe too.

↗
What happens to my content if I uninstall the app?

Uninstalling KYMS+ removes the app’s local data from your device. Content stored only there may be lost.

If you use KYMS Cloud, you can retrieve synced content by signing in to the same account after reinstalling. Before uninstalling, make sure uploads have finished or export important files. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

↗
Who can access the content in my vault?

Access to your vault is protected by your password and, if enabled, biometric unlocking. Content is encrypted on your device and uploaded in encrypted form when you use KYMS Cloud.

Our Cloud service and support team cannot read your files. Anyone who knows your password or can unlock the vault on your device can access them.

↗

Features

What is Bait Safe, and what is it for?

Bait Safe is a separate vault opened with a different password. You can store non-sensitive content in it to show without opening your main vault.

Creating and configuring it requires Core or Plus. Bait Safe does not use KYMS Cloud. If your plan ends, you can still open an existing Bait Safe with its password or delete it.

↗
What is Intruder Catch, and which permissions does it need?

Intruder Catch lets you record events related to unauthorised attempts to access your vault. If you enable the relevant options and grant permission, events can include a photo and location.

This feature requires Core or Plus. Camera and location access depend on the permissions you grant in iPhone settings.

↗
What is Login History?

Login History records vault access events with their date and time. You can browse them and filter by date range. Location is included when the relevant option and permissions are enabled.

This feature requires Core or Plus.

↗
How can I change the app icon?

Open KYMS+ settings, select “Change Icon” and choose one of the available icons.

Changing the icon requires Core or Plus.

↗
What is the built-in browser for?

The built-in browser lets you browse the web directly in KYMS+ and import downloadable files from websites into your vault.

Bookmarks, history and tab state are stored on your device in an encrypted database that cannot be read without the keys needed to open it. This protection applies to the app’s database. It does not make browsing anonymous or guarantee that no other traces exist on visited websites or in website data.

Some websites or content may prevent downloads or require you to sign in. The browser does not bypass these restrictions.

↗
How do the document scanner and PDF reader work?

The scanner uses the camera to capture documents, organise their pages and save them in your vault. Camera permission is required.

The built-in reader lets you open and view PDFs stored in KYMS+ without leaving the app.

↗
Are browser bookmarks, history and tabs synced to the Cloud?

No. The browser database stays on your device and is not synced to KYMS Cloud. Bookmarks, history and tabs are therefore not restored through KYMS Cloud when you change iPhone.

Files downloaded and imported into your vault follow archive syncing instead, provided the Cloud is enabled and their uploads have finished.

↗

Cloud and storage

What is the difference between content on my device and content in the Cloud?

Content on your device is available locally and can be viewed without Internet access. KYMS Cloud stores encrypted copies of synced content and lets you retrieve it on other devices signed in to the same account.

Content available in the Cloud may need to be downloaded before you can open it. Syncing is not a recycle bin: deleting content from your vault also propagates the deletion to the Cloud and other devices.

↗
How do I enable the Cloud? Do I need a subscription?

You can choose to enable the Cloud during initial setup or from the Cloud section in KYMS+. Follow the instructions and wait until activation has finished.

A paid plan is not required. Free includes 500 MB of Cloud storage, while Lite, Core and Plus offer more space. Buying a plan and enabling the Cloud are separate operations. Check that the Cloud is enabled and uploads have finished.

↗
Can I access my content on multiple devices?

Yes. You can retrieve synced content by signing in to the same KYMS account on another compatible device. The Cloud must be enabled, and the content must have uploaded successfully.

Files stored only on one device, browser data and Bait Safe are not transferred through KYMS Cloud.

↗
How much Cloud storage do I have, and where can I see my usage?

You can check your plan and available storage in KYMS+ settings and in the Cloud section.

Free includes 500 MB, Lite 2 GB, Core 10 GB and Plus 100 GB of Cloud storage. Cloud storage is separate from the free space on your iPhone.

↗
What happens when I run out of Cloud storage?

New uploads that exceed your available space cannot finish. Files already on your device remain available locally.

You can upgrade your plan or delete content you no longer need. Before deleting anything, remember that deletion from the vault also syncs to the Cloud and other devices. Once you have freed up space, check transfer status and use “Retry” where available.

↗
Can deleted content be recovered?

KYMS+ does not have a recycle bin. Content deleted from the vault cannot be restored by the app or support. If the content is synced, deletion also propagates to the Cloud and other connected devices.

You can import it again if you have another copy, for example in Photos, Files or a previous export.

Plans, payments and subscriptions

What are the differences between Free, Lite, Core and Plus?
PlanCloud storageApp icon changes, Login History, Intruder Catch and Bait Safe creation/configuration
Free500 MBNot included
Lite2 GBNot included
Core10 GBIncluded
Plus100 GBIncluded

Feature access requires a valid plan. You can view prices, billing periods and available options on the app’s plan screen.

↗
How can I change my plan?

Open KYMS+ Settings and tap “Increase storage” to browse the available plans and choose one that suits you.

If you cannot find the option you need, open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → KYMS+ and check the available alternatives. Review the price, terms and effective date before confirming.

Before switching to a plan with less Cloud storage, check your usage. A 15-day grace period begins on the effective date of the change, during which you can access and download Cloud content to keep a copy. After that period, the new limit applies: Cloud copies over the allowance may be removed, starting with the most recently uploaded content. The Cloud stays enabled, and copies already on your device are kept.

Apple’s guide to changing plans

↗
I already have a subscription, but my plan is not showing. What can I do?

Make sure you are signed in to the same KYMS account used for the purchase and are using the same Apple Account in the App Store. With an active Internet connection, reopen KYMS+ and check your plan in settings.

If the problem continues, contact support and attach your diagnostic report. You do not need to buy the subscription again. An active subscription associated with another KYMS account cannot be transferred by using a different account.

↗
I bought a plan, but the expected storage or features are missing. What should I do?

Check that the purchase has completed and is not awaiting approval. Check your plan in KYMS+ settings with an active connection. Cloud storage may take a short time to update after payment.

Remember that Lite adds Cloud storage, while app icon changes, Login History, Intruder Catch and Bait Safe creation/configuration require Core or Plus. If your access does not match the purchased plan, contact support with your diagnostic report.

↗
How do I turn off automatic subscription renewal?

Open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → KYMS+, then select “Cancel Subscription”. If the button is missing and an expiry date is shown, renewal may already be cancelled.

For a regular paid subscription, your plan remains available until the paid period ends. Uninstalling KYMS+, disabling the Cloud or deleting your KYMS account does not replace this procedure.

Apple’s cancellation guide

↗
What happens to my files and features when my subscription ends or I switch to a lower plan?

A 15-day grace period begins when your subscription actually expires or on the effective date of a change to a plan with less Cloud storage. During this period, you can continue accessing and downloading Cloud content; if your subscription has expired, you can also renew it. Turning off automatic renewal does not start the grace period before expiry.

After the 15 days, your account uses the Cloud storage allowance of its available plan. If you have no other valid paid plan, Free applies, with 500 MB. The Cloud stays enabled.

Content already on your device is kept. If Cloud usage exceeds the new limit after the grace period, Cloud copies over the allowance may be removed, starting with the most recently uploaded content. Download or export anything you want to keep before the 15 days end. A later purchase does not restore Cloud copies that have already been removed.

If you no longer have Core or Plus, local features reserved for those plans become unavailable according to their respective rules. An existing Bait Safe can still be opened with its password or deleted.

↗
How do I request a refund?

For purchases made through the App Store, sign in to Report a Problem with Apple, choose the option to request a refund and select the relevant purchase.

Apple reviews requests under the applicable terms. The KYMS team cannot approve them directly. If you also want to stop future renewals, cancel the subscription separately.

↗

Deactivation and deletion

How do I disable the Cloud, and what happens to local and online content?

Open KYMS+ settings, choose Cloud deactivation and read the confirmation screens before proceeding.

Deactivation stops syncing and starts deleting data in KYMS Cloud. Content already on your device stays available. Files stored only in the Cloud should not be treated as recoverable copies after deactivation. Download or export anything you want to keep first.

Your account remains available. Disabling the Cloud does not cancel your subscription.

↗
Can I enable the Cloud again after disabling it?

Yes. You can enable it again with a new, explicit confirmation. The Cloud starts with an empty archive. Reactivating it does not recover copies deleted during the previous deactivation.

Locally available content can be uploaded subject to your plan’s storage allowance and sync status.

↗
How do I permanently delete my account, and what is deleted?

Open KYMS+ settings and follow the account deletion flow, reading all confirmation screens.

The request revokes access and starts deleting your Cloud data and account. The app also removes the associated local archive and data. Server cleanup happens in stages and is not necessarily immediate. Export any content you want to keep before confirming.

Account deletion cannot be used to recover or transfer files, and it does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.

↗
Does disabling the Cloud or deleting my account also cancel my subscription?

No. Manage your App Store subscription separately in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → KYMS+.

Cloud deactivation, account deletion and cancelling renewal are different operations. If you do not want further renewals, make sure you have cancelled the subscription with Apple.

Troubleshooting and support

An import, upload or download is not finishing. What can I do?

Check that your iPhone has free space and, for Cloud uploads, that your plan has available storage. If the operation needs Internet access, check your connection and try keeping KYMS+ open until it finishes.

If an error appears, follow the instructions and use “Retry” where available. For a browser download, also check that the file is still accessible on the original website.

If the problem continues, contact support with the operation you were performing and any error message, and attach the diagnostic report available in settings. Keep the originals and avoid uninstalling the app in the meantime.

↗
A feature cannot access the camera, photos or location. How do I check permissions?

Open iPhone settings and find KYMS+, or check permissions under “Privacy & Security”. Review the permissions needed for the feature you want to use.

If you have allowed access to selected photos only, make sure the ones you want to import are included. For photos and location attached to security events, also check that the relevant options are enabled inside KYMS+.

↗
How do I contact support, and what information should I include?

Tap “Email support” or copy the email address shown on this page.

Describe what you were trying to do, what happened and any error message. You can attach the diagnostic report, available in KYMS+ Settings → App info → Diagnostic report.

This file contains technical information to help identify the problem. It does not contain your personal files, photos, videos, passwords or recovery codes. The report is not sent automatically. You can share it and attach it to your email.

If you add a screenshot, make sure it does not show private content. Do not send passwords or your Recovery Card.
